·         Worked 2 additional years for MSA (HMIS) under contract to build UL 508A Industrial Control Panels; and

Electrical Inspection / Engineering Equipment Evaluation on DOE Sites, and for DOE Vendors

·         Experienced Author of Technical and Engineering Documents for NEC Code, Safety, Quality, and Equipment Qualification. Co-Approver with Chief Electrical Engineer@ WTP of engineering documents for a DOE Nuclear Site.

·         Experience in the selection of equipment, materials, and the preparation and assembling of engineering design change packages, calculations, and specifications

·         Experience with electrical system design including low and medium voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motor, relays, etc.)

·         Effective written and verbal communication skills to convey information to project team members and client

·         Detailed oriented approach to work. Drawings and Specifications must be aligned, meet NEC, and be constructable!

·         Security cleared for badging with unescorted access to nuclear power stations.
(ENW, WTP, WRPS, and HMIS)

·         Have prepared and reviewed engineering design change packages to install, replace or upgrade existing plant equipment to ensure long-term equipment reliability, layout, and functionality.

·         Have prepared and reviewed equipment procurement specifications, (at Bechtel; worked as an electrical estimator for DOE projects; and as an independent electrical contractor bidding and winning jobs for government contractors.)

·         Have worked on challenging projects that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of electrical engineering issues.

·         Have prepared bids, and participated in the bid review evaluation process for equipment vendors, including supporting vendor requests for additional information, developing responses to vendor questions, and maintaining a tracking mechanism for questions/responses (At Bechtel, and Northpoint Electric, and my own contracting firm)

·         Have prepared and reviewed detailed engineering calculations in support of design change packages, including AC power studies, short circuit, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, etc.

·         Have performed constructability reviews, and prepared and reviewed scoping documents for conceptual designs (NEC Compliance, UL Standards UL / NRTL, UL 508A, NFPA 780, etc.).

·         Have interfaced with project team members from other engineering and design disciplines (Mechanical, Structural, Civil, I&C), toward problem solving, and to keep work moving

·         Have interfaced with DOE clients (AHJ’s) on two Hanford Nuclear sites in support of the project,

·         Have interfaced with vendors to perform document reviews and provide written comments.

·         Have participated in client meetings and site field walkdowns to validate scope and ensure client satisfaction.

·         Traveled to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs, including NEC and NRTL requirements before equipment was permitted on DOE Sites.

·         Have supported site installation activities during project implementation, in the office and in the field.

·         Have managed projects and worked with Project Managers to ensure safety and quality, on time, and within budget.

·         Have been responsible for overall technical, financial, and administrative performance of the engineering scope by:

o   Initiating and conveying scope of work to project team members

o   Defining deliverables (i.e. calcs, specs, drawings, design change, etc.)

o   Reviewing status/ tracked progress to maintain project scope/ budget and keep client informed.

o   Field work walkdowns, and project status meetings, coordinated completion of project deliverables

o   Submitting progress reports, tracking and resolving open items and emergent project issues,

·         Licensed Electrical Contractor / Electrical Administrator / Master Electrician / Journeyman (Unlimited License)

·         Certified Master Electrical Inspector. Review of DOE field electrical installations, identified discrepancies, worked with WRPS Engineering to recommend resolution toward compliance.

·         Quality Assurance. Electrical / Mechanical.  Pro-actively initiated programs, and received awards at DOE Site.

·         Experienced Working in / on / around Electrical / Mechanical Systems up to 15,000 volts

·         Strong, proven knowledge of National Electrical Code and UL Standards. NEC Resource for engineering staff.

·         Knowledge of NFPA 70E Arc Flash Electrical Safety and 70B, Electrical Maintenance Standards.

·         I have valuable electrical governmental and industry contacts, which help resolution of electrical issues.

·         I’m a Strategic Problem Solver – identifying issues, providing actions steps for resolution, and measurable results.
